Yogyakarta Day 1: The Arrival & Bright Night

My sons. It was their birthday and I decided to bring them for a vacation. I love to make people happy and I don't care if I spend my money for it.

My sister parked the car at Putrajaya & Cyberjaya ERL Station. Enterance: RM6 per-day. Cheaper than parking near the airport which is RM32 daily. We rode the ERL (RM9) to KLIA2.

On the ERL

This was my sons first time going to oversea. Meor (center) used to go to Indonesia but when he was still a child. In the other hand, Wan (the darker one: left) was his second time on the flight and never been to outside Malaysia.

First time using the Automated Clearance System

The flight time was 2 hours and 45 minutes.

It was already sunsets when we arrived

Took the taxi and arrived at the Zest Hotel Yogyakarta which I booked from Booking.com. Trust me, it's easier to book through Booking.com and I don't like to compare the prices since Booking.com always gives you the cheapest option. The price was: RM449 for 2 rooms/2 nights. Cheap lah kan? However, my sister said the hotel is too luxury for her. Ya lah, she always sleeps in the jungle and cheap hostels for her vacation.

After bathed and prayed we went to a mall, I don't recall which mall but I remembered we went to Es Teler 77 to have our dinner. I love their Mi Ayam (chicken noodle) and my sister fancy their Es Teler (fruit cocktail from Indonesia).

Mi Ayam

After that my sister arranged us to go to Alun Alun Kidul. My sister arranged the itinerary for us since she's been in Jogja before (and this was my third time being in oversea so I didn't know how to arrange an itinerary). We went there by taxi.

Alun Alun Kidul is a park behind the king's palace which is always full of people to have fun especially at night. It's actually a royal courtyard. The highlight of this place is the visitors come here to ride the becak (rickshaw) decorated with multicoloured lights. I chose Volkswagen Doraemon design since Wan always said I look like it (short and chubby plus cute!). It was around RP10k to RP20k.

At first we were excited.
Then, we realized it was not as easy as it looks. The front persons have to pedal the 'car'. Very heavy you know.
I gave up. I let the boys do the work instead...

Super excited boys.
Photobomb from a passerby. All the becak have loud music. Macam night club pulak.
We also walked across the courtyard. There were two banyan trees in the middle of the courtyard. For RP5000, you can rent the blindfold and play Masagin game. Or you can just bring your own blindfold. The game is, you have to walk between the two trees successfully. It is believed that only those having pure hearts and not bearing evil intention can walk pass the banyan trees. Well, we just walked though them with wide open eyes. Evil enough...

There are also stalls selling snacks and drinks. We just went home after the walk. We were so tired after the pedaling.

We went home by two becaks (not the Doraemon one) to gave my boys the experience. We stopped by the pharmacy and after that straight away to our hotel.
